Pink? Check! Hearts? Check!
Greetings from Norway! I’m here visiting my boyfriend again (he works here for now) — and, I’m just in time to be able to celebrate Valentines Day with him, too! 😀 Also in my favor is the weather: two weeks ago it was -18 degrees Celsius here, and I was so worried that I would turn into an icicle when I got here! It was -5 in Denmark (with a windchill factor of -24) for a while this winter, and let me tell you — I was miserable! I grew up in Asia, so I’ve never quite liked when it gets too cold! I do love spring and fall, though. You know, seasons where you can still dress yourself warmly and not look like the Michelin man?
But I find that around January and February, you have one pair of winter boots you can wear so you don’t slip in the ice, and then you have maybe two hairstyles that won’t get completely ruined under a hat, AND you have to say goodbye to all your chunky beautiful rings that wont fit under gloves! That is not my idea of fun with fashion! I feel so limited, you know? 😦 Anyone else feel this way?
Anyways! I’m here and it’s not terribly cold, which is lovely. 😀 And before I arrived here, I decided to do a cute Valentines Day manicure, in the hopes that it will last until the day. I used Primrose from the Depend Rough Sparkle Collection — if you click the link, you’ll see my review of that amazing collection. It’s an awesome pink, opaque in one coat (though I did 2 to be safe for these photos) that is packed with glitter. It has a gritty Liquid Sand –esque finish (though less so), but it looks awesome with a top coat, too. Since I was working with rhinestones, I used a top coat here!
I tried to capture this manicure in many different lights, because the glitter can be quite tricky to catch on camera, and the holographic glitter of the hearts also were a challenge! I got the MoYou Rhinestones on Amazon.co.uk, and the hearts I received as a gift from my friend Helen (thank you!) from Primark.
I dipped a cuticle stick into nail polish and then used that to apply the rhinestones. I then used a quick drying top coat to seal off my design. I’m currently using Ciaté Speed Coat.
What do you think? What will you be wearing on your nails this Valentines Day?
While I’m not a hardcore follower of Valentines Day, I do enjoy sharing a good meal, either at home or out to eat with my boyfriend. I don’t really need or expect any gifts (though I am not one to shun them, either hehe 😉 ) nor do I really need to have a day dictate when to celebrate my partner — but I do love using any excuse in order to do it. When I was single I enjoyed watching something like The Notebook with a good friend (or The Wedding Singer! LOVE that film) in our pajamas with a good glass –*cough* bottle *cough* — of wine.
How do you celebrate it? Do you send cards? Go out to eat? Exchange gifts? Do you like to be a little unconventional? Here are a few I’ve seen floating around the net that made me laugh!
Got some good/funny Valentines Day cards? I’d love a chuckle — share them with me in the comments! & Have a wonderful Valentines Day — however you choose to celebrate it.
I’ll catch you after Norway! 🙂
