Breast Cancer Awareness: Pink!

Essie: Splash of Grenadine

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Hey All,

Today’s manicure is for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: October. Pink is the color to symbolize this, so I chose a simple manicure in a great pink to share with you guys today.

Essie: Splash of Grenadine

In Denmark, Saturday 5th October is Pink Saturday (Lyserød Lørdag). This is a day where Kræftens Bekæmpelse (A Society that raises money for Cancer research and support) is hosting a series of events to generate both awareness and money for the cause. I decided to combine a polish review with awareness about this month and this disease and how you can check yourself.

For this manicure I used Essie Splash of Grenadine, and some rhinestones from this pack that I purchased off Amazon.co.uk. I applied a top coat, and then used a cuticle stick dipped in clear top coat to pick up and place the rhinestones on my nails. Afterwards, I sealed the entire mani off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Splash of Grenadine is a creme (bordering on crelly) formula that is opaque in two generous coats. It’s a pink that leans purple, and can also be described as ‘french rose pink’. It’s like a muted Barbie pink that leans purple, without being too Barbie… if that makes any sense at all! 😉

There you have it, a simple, yet eye-catching, manicure that requires more patience than it does a steady hand.

Since it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I believe the best way to create awareness is through learning and, well, knowing how to be aware – here are some good youtube videos containing practical information about breast cancer detection:
