Colorful French Manicure.

Hello All!

Today’s post is a french manicure with a twist: colorful tips!

I used the following polishes and brands to complete the look:

Heróme:

  • Ridge Filling Base Coat (a great polish for people, like me, who have ridges in their nails that can affect how evenly polish appears when applied)

Max Factor Glossfinity:

Essie:

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear:

Max Factor: Lilac Lace; Essie: Lovie Dovie, Tart Deco, Mint Candy Apple; & Sally Hansen: Blue Me Away!

Polish Reviews – I’ve covered most of these polishes in other posts, but will quickly recap here:

Lilac Lace: (thumb) a creme finish polish in ‘blurple lavender’. The formula is on the thicker side, but it is manageable, and your manicure is fully opaque in two easy coats. [A]
Lovie Dovie: (index) a crème polish in a perfect flirty pink. Due to its thin formula, it does need three coats to become opaque, though. [A-]
Tart Deco: (middle) a crème formula coral with strong orange tones. The formula is fairly thick, and almost opaque in one coat. Use two coats for full opacity. [A]
Mint Candy Apple: (ring) a crème polish,  described as a ‘crème de menthe mint’ color: somewhere between a pale sky blue and turquoise, depending on the light. Thick formula that needed two generous coats (or three thin coats) to become opaque, and unlike other Essie colors, it does not possess self-leveling qualities. [B-]
Blue Me Away!: (pinkie) A ‘deep sky blue’ crème formula that is almost opaque in one coat. [A]

Max Factor: Lilac Lace; Essie: Lovie Dovie, Tart Deco, Mint Candy Apple; & Sally Hansen: Blue Me Away!

I started with the Ridge Filling Base Coat, which I used two coats of. Then I did the tips freehand with each of the polish brushes, using two coats for each color.

The overall effect is a discreet and fun manicure that is both work appropriate and fun! Plus, you’ll never have to worry about it matching your outfit of the day!

Jaundice-looking hands! 😦

My camera went crazy and made my hands look really yellow and gross here! It did get a good indication of how the colors appear, so I’ve included it despite the creepy yellow tone my hands have adopted.
