Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck

Today’s post is a simply manicure using Lady Luck. Sally Hansen has made a new addition to their permanent array of polish – and it’s an entire glitter collection called Gem Crush. There are 8 polishes in the collection so far, and they are all full-coverage glitters.  Lady Luck is a clear based formula packed with small fuchsia glitter pieces, and round-shaped holographic glitter.

The bottle alone makes promises of shine that got me hooked, right off the bat. I applied three thin coats for full opacity.

The polish does tend to dry a little bit matte and quite textured, however, and not as shiny as I had originally anticipated. Sure, it looked alright, but I wanted SHINE!

I went onto the website  for the Gem Crush Collection, and noticed that in the information about the colors that they mentioned

“seal with top coat for extra shine”.

… I went for it and have no regrets.

Ring finger: top coat; pinkie finger: no top coat.

Such a difference! The polish gains such depth! I will say that this polish does tend to drink up your top coat, so the pictures below are two coats.

Having three coats to reach opacity (plus a base coat) and then adding one to two coats of top coat does mean that removal is a real hassle, so if you are a fan of the glue base tactic you should try it out with this polish because it is a pain to remove!  Here’s a video for the visual/aural learners. Extra points for her lovely accent!

What do you think? Have you tried Gem Crush before? What are your best glitter removal tips?
